The Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care serves as the main hub for research activities in the VA. The Center houses 36 research faculty (14 M.D. and 12 Ph.D). Areas of active investigation include chronic disease management, patient self-management, palliative care, obesity treatment, women’s health, telemedicine, and racial disparities. These investigators accounted for over $25 million in research funding in 2006.
